Guard Ship C-432 based at Mandapam located and rescued distressed Fishing Boat with 10 crew about 20 NM North East of Pamban in Palk Bay. The distressed boat had suffered hull damage leading to uncontrolled ingress of water and failure of engine.
The fishing boat had sailed from Navoor harbor, Nagapattnam early morning on 05 Oct 23 and had suffered a crack in Hull at night on same day which led to the emergency situation onboard. As soon as information about the boat was received from Fisheries Department, Rameshwaram in early hours on 06 Oct 23, Indian Coast Guard station at Mandapam sailed ICGS C-432 which was successful in locating and rescuing the distressed boat alongwith crew. The boat and all 10 crew were safely handed over by ICG to Fisheries Department, Rameshwaram near Pamban fishing Harbour.
